There were no judges saves in sight for Casey Abrams on Thursday night when America voted and the American Idol hopeful came to the end of his journey.
This was the second time that the 20-year-old from Wilmette, IL had received the lowest number of votes, but last time, he was saved by judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler.
Abrams’ Waterloo was Carole King night on which he performed a jazzy version of her Hi-De-Ho. Although, Randy Jackson had commented that Abrams’ version reminded him of New Orleans, the song didn’t go over well with the fans.
For his swan song, Abrams performed I Put a Spell on You.
Thursday’s show also featured performances by last season’s runner-up Crystal Bowersox, who sang Ridin’ With the Radio, and Bruno Mars performing The Lazy Song.
This week, there was no bottom three. Rather, the results were read randomly to keep American guessing — and voting for its favorites.
On Wednesday, May 4 the Top 5 finalists — Lauren Alaina, James Durbin, Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery and Haley Reinhart — return to the American Idol stage to perform songs from “now and then” – one current song and one from the 1960s — at 8 p.m. on FOX.
