Oscar host Billy Crystal will have a four-legged partner for this year’s Academy Awards ceremonies. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crystal and Uggie, the canine star of The Artist, have been rehearsing a skit that they will perform when the 84th Annual Academy Awards airs on February 26 on ABC.
It may be the terrier’s final public apperance because the trade paper also reports that Uggie, who is also nominated for a Golden Collar Award, is retiring this year and will spend his final days hanging out at his trainer’s home. His brother Dash, who up to now has served as Uggie’s stand in, will take over for him. Dash will make his first appearance at the Golden Collar ceremonies, which take place on Feb. 13, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel, honoring the canine stars of US and international films, TV shows and commercials.
