Jones will make a guest appearance on the Emmy award-winning talk show on February 22 to raise awareness of heart disease, the number one killer of women. She’ll also discuss her involvement with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement.
Jones underwent successful open heart surgery in March 2010 to repair a malfunctioning heart valve related to a surgery she’d had after developing a thoracic tumor three decades earlier. Two months later, Barbara Walters announced on The View that she would undergo open heart surgery to replace a faulty heart valve. Walters returned to the show full-time on September 7, 2010.
In honor of National Wear Red Day on February 3, Walters and The View‘s co-hosts,Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd, will wear red to show their support in the fight against heart disease in women.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
