The second mid-season finale of Pretty Little Liars airs tonight on ABC Family and Aria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) are up to their pretty little necks in problems with A.

For interviews with the four Liars on what we can expect to see, check out my interviews on

But I also spoke with Ian Harding, who plays Ezra, to get his take on the summer finale and what lies ahead for Ezria [Ezra + Aria, for the uninitiated].

What did you make of the Twitter storm from when Aria and Jason (Drew Van Acker) kissed?

I wasn’t too aware of that.  I am on Twitter occasionally, kind of for the sole purpose of Tweeting fans or for news outlets to give my daily scoop.  I heard there was a bit of outrage at it, but I think like any relationship, any incredibly loving relationship, which is what Aria and Ezra have, I think that it needs to go through these trials and tribulations, because how boring would it be if it was just so awesome?  Nobody cares.  There has got to be some ups and downs.

What can you tell us about the mid season finale and what happens with your character?

It is going to be eventful.  For every storyline in Rosewood, one secret will be revealed, one mystery will be solved, but then another two will pop up in its place.  So I think things come to a head but not like you would think. I know I am being incredibly vague here, but it’s definitely not going to be dull and will make January seem just so far away to be mind numbing.

Did anything shock you about it?

Yes, a few things did.  I found myself kind of going, not really gasping when I was reading it, but kind of going “Huh?” or “Ohhhh” Or something like that.  Of course there are a few shockers, as well, that are not necessarily my storyline, but there are a few very tense moments, very tense and awkward moments.

Between just a few folks! Between me and maybe some characters who are beyond the age of 18! So that’s like half the cast, right?

Will Jackie Molina (Paloma Guzmán), Ezra’s ex, be exposing Ezria?

Jackie will be a big part in both the mid-series finale, but also we are shooting episode 215 right now, and I have seen Paloma on set quite a bit. So, when we come back in January, she is here.

Will there be more blackmail issues?

Possibly. She is aware of Aria and me because, as you saw a few episodes ago, when we were kissing at Hollis College — I think she is probably a little put off by that.  So we are going to see the ramifications of that.

Do you think A is someone, or has to be someone that we know?

It’s funny that you should say someone because I don’t know if it is someone. I feel like it could be a group of people.  I don’t know who is this brilliant to just be in every place at one time.  And I feel like if it is just one student, let’s look at the kid who is failing out because he is obviously not doing homework! Emily had a box full of simply a cereal and then it had something inside it and it was hermetically sealed as well.  You plan that months in advance! How did that happen?  It’s either a group of people, or somebody who is a mastermind or has a crazy split personality. And I hope to God it’s me!

Pretty Little Liars mid-season finale airs tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.
