Move over Kelly Clarkson. The American Idol, who had been at the top of the list as the biggest earner to rise from the ranks of the popular reality series, has lost hold of first place.
A new name now tops the list as the biggest earner among alums of the show: Carrie Underwood. According to hollywoodreporter.com the country singer, who has sold 12.3 million albums and 18.5 million digital tracks since winning the competition in season four, is now number one.
Clarkson, season’s one winner, had been on top with 10.6 million albums and 15.9 million digital tracks sold.
Underwood has also garnered better concert sales: $66 million compared to $32 by Clarkson.
Behind the two female leaders is Chris Daughtry, the rocker and fourth-place finalist of American Idol’s fifth season, in the number three spot. Daughtry is followed by Clay Aiken, Fantasia, Ruben Studdard, Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson, David Cook and Kellie Pickler.
