When it comes to choices, Ben Flajnik, the Sonoma winemaker looking for love on the new season of The Bachelor, is seriously going to have his hands full. Among the ladies eager to meet him on the series premiere, Monday, January 2, will be a senior citizen, who’s madly in love with him, a germ-conscious epidemiologist, and a woman who really knows how to make an entrance –- on horseback!
The new season of the hit reality series clearly promises something for viewers of all ages and interests. Plus, it will include the usual spectacular trips — this time around to Puerto Rico, Panama, Belize and Switzerland — and private concerts by platinum recording artist Matt Nathanson and country music superstar Clay Walker.
In the premiere episode, Ben, who proposed to Ashley Hebert on the season finale of The Bachelorette only to be rejected, returns ready for another chance at love. After meeting his 25 bachelorettes, Ben heads into the mansion for the first big cocktail party, where the competition for his attention heats up.
An easy-going woman and a sweet divorcee both make an early play for The Bachelor, while the sexy equestrian proves she is just as charming without the horse. The pressure mounts when Chris Harrison brings out the “first impression” rose, as one woman after another attempts to win it. One athletic woman corners Ben for a quick soccer game, while a gorgeous model tries to seduce him and a charming scholar performs a rap she wrote just for him.
There’s plenty more drama in the series premiere and the ensuing episodes. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the season’s highlights:
- One bachelorette seems like she might be more interested in one of the other women than in Ben.
- A nervous young woman struggles to overcome her worst fear, when she and Ben scale San Francisco’s Bay Bridge.
- During a trip to tropical, Vieques, Puerto Rico, sparks fly when one sexy lady goes moonlight skinny-dipping with Ben.
- While in Belize a fun-filled catamaran adventure turns to panic, when the women discover they are going swimming with sharks.
After spending passionate weeks in the hot tropics, Ben brings his final three women to Switzerland for a dramatic change of scenery for the exotic dates and the finale. Despite the storybook setting, Ben starts to question his decisions. Will he miss his chance for a happy ending again?
Be sure to tune in so you can find out. The Bachelor premieres on January 2 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
