Another love story designed by The Bachelor/The Bachelorette franchise has come to an end, and Ali Fedotowsky is explaining why. The reality star discusses her painful breakup with fiancé Roberto Martinez, after an 18-month engagement, in the next issue of People.
While Fedotowsky insists that she had all intentions of marrying Martinez after their TV courtship, as time passed she realized it might not be meant to be.
“I wouldn’t be being truthful, if I said this came out of nowhere,” Fedotowsky tells the magazine. “We definitely had been having problems, but I had always believed that we could work it out.”
Although the couple postponed plans to walk down the aisle on more than one occasion, they insisted they were committed to each other. And Fedotowsky swears that she and Martinez did make every effort to stay together. However, arguments continued taking a toll on their relationship.
Ultimately, the duo realized “we were unhappy more than we were happy,” says Fedotowsky. “And we both deserved more.”
