A tumble at the beginning of their rumba didn’t stop Dancing with the Stars partners Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy from delivering a solid and sultry performance. The duo quickly rose to their feet, went on with the show, and earned a solid 21 out of 30 score from the judges.
“There’s something exciting about live TV,” Alley told people.com, admitting she’d been “so scared” something could happen. “Now that it’s happened, I’m like, ‘So what!’”
Chmerkovskiy, who was in obvious pain, took full blame for the incident. “My thigh just gave out. I’m so sorry,” he apologized, explaining that it “happens with muscle strains” and had “nothing to do with” Alley.
Alley, however, acknowledged her part in the mishap. “Maks is too humble,” she tweeted. “We all know it takes TWO to Tango… on our feet or on our asses…it takes TWO. I will do better from now on.”
As for Chmerkovskiy’s injury possibly causing him to bow out of the competition in favor of a replacement, he insisted it wouldn’t. “No, no, no. I’ll be okay,” Chmerkovskiy swore to people.com, adding that he’d deal with it after the show’s finale on May 24. “Until then, you don’t have to worry.”
Alley, for one, certainly wasn’t. The whole incident only left the actress more daring. In fact, she revealed on Twitter that she went out and got a tattoo afterward “and I love it… and I had fun,” tweeted Alley. “In the end this turned into a magical night.”
